Departments

Six teaching departments, seventeen lecturers, of whom four are guest lecturers covering sanctioned posts that remain vacant. Every lecturer keeps two open hours a week for students who want to go over something again.

History

Head: Smt. Rukmini Deshpande, M.A., M.Phil. Four lecturers. The department runs the college's heritage walk each January, when the second-year students survey and write up one monument in the taluk — the Aurad fort gate and the Chintaki stepwell have both been documented this way, and both write-ups are in the library.

Economics

Head: Sri Basavaraj Patil, M.A. Three lecturers, one post vacant. Second-year students carry out a household survey in their own villages each year as part of the statistics unit; it is the piece of coursework students most often say they remember.

Political Science

Head: Sri Mallikarjun Swamy, M.A., B.Ed. Three lecturers. The department runs the mock Grama Panchayat every February, which is the college's largest event and the one the village turns up to.

Sociology

Head: Smt. Shobha Rathod, M.A. Two lecturers, one post vacant, covered by a guest lecturer. Field visits to the anganwadi and the primary health centre are part of the second-year course.

Kannada

Head: Sri Shivakumar Biradar, M.A. Three lecturers. The department publishes Tengli Baraha, the college magazine, once a year, written and edited entirely by students.

English

Head: Smt. Asha Kulkarni, M.A., B.Ed. Two lecturers. Runs the spoken-English hour on Wednesdays and Fridays after class, which is optional, unexamined and, for a lot of our students, the reason they can sit an interview.

Physical education and library

Sri Ravi Chavan, Physical Education Director, runs the morning drill and the kabaddi and kho-kho teams. Smt. Geeta Ambore, Librarian, keeps the library open through the lunch hour, which is when it is busiest.
